Remarkable Rice

Risotto, sushi, curries, rice pudding: we eat rice in lots of different ways, but where does it come from? Join us live in Thailand and Rotterdam to find out how rice is grown, harvested and milled.

Rice is one of the oldest and most popular foods in the world. We learn how this staple food grows and how it ends up on our plates.

Key learning points are:

  • How rice is grown in a paddy field
  • Where rice is eaten around the world
  • How rice is milled in the factory
  • What's the difference between brown and white rice

Pupils will also get the chance to ask the experts their own questions about how rice is grown in Thailand and milled in the Netherlands.
