Food for Fuel

Our new Food for Fuel Trail helps children learn about the food they need to do sports and activities, as well as focusing on what athletes need to ensure they're at their very best.

About this trail

This trail is great for linking learning to world sporting events like the Olympic Games or more locally like the school sports day. Carry on learning when you're back in the classroom with our free teacher's notes and resources.

What happens on the trail?

  • Children will learn about the global nature of sport and then relate it to the global nature of our food.
  • They will investigate unusual fruit from sporting nations like Brazil.
  • The class will explore the importance of keeping hydrated as well as creating their own fruit-flavoured water.
  • They will focus on what athletes need to ensure they're competing at their very best, and learn how to read nutritional labels.
