Autumn Harvest Trail

Our Autumn Harvest Trail is a great chance for children to learn more about the food we enjoy at this popular time of year

About this trail

This trail runs throughout term time from September to November, and is a celebration of the food we produce during the autumn season and at harvest.

What happens on the trail?

  • Children will learn about harvest traditions, as well as investigating wheat and its many uses.
  • They will learn about seasonality and seasonal produce.
  • They’ll step back in time and discover the fruit and vegetables we enjoyed eating 100 years ago.
  • Your class will discover why it’s important to preserve food after harvesting, and have the opportunity to taste and give their opinion about foods preserved by one of the oldest methods still in use today.
