Fancy a taste of the sun this summer? Then look no further than this week’s Let’s Cookalong!

Last week we took you on a picnic, but now we’re heading a bit further than your local park. We’re bringing you all of the tastes of Italy, working with the Children’s Food Trust to give you simple, easy-to-follow video recipes. Whether you want to try your hand at making your own pesto, or a big bowl of pasta, we’ve got the Italian flavours for you.

Children can develop and practise new skills in the kitchen, from chopping and grating to boiling and frying. They can also taste some new ingredients and learn what goes into making some of their favourite dishes.

If you’re feeling especially adventurous, why not learn how to make your own pasta? You can design your own shapes to give your food an extra-special twist.

Here’s a sneak peek of the recipes you can cook along to…

Pesto

Add some pizzazz to meals with your own homemade pesto. You can’t beat it!

Italian bruschetta

This is a simple and tasty Italian toast, perfect as a snack or a light lunch.

Mini flatbread pizzas

Personalise this children’s favourite with your own dough and choice of toppings.

Spaghetti bolognese

We took a household favourite and made it easy to make with children. Get them involved with cooking one of their favourite dishes!
