The UK’s biggest milk pool
Arla is a Farmer-owned cooperative, and now has 2,800 farmers, spread geographically throughout the country, who co-own the global business Arla Foods amba. As a cooperative, Arla’s sole purpose is to ensure that it secures the highest value for farmers’ milk while creating opportunities for their growth.
What happens on a visit to Arla?
The Aylesbury site opened in October 2013 and is Arla's newest, most technologically advanced and environmentally progressive of its kind. During a site visit kids could expect to see the raw milk arriving in tankers from the farm right through to the finished polybottle of milk being loaded on to a lorry for delivery to the supermarket. They will be guided through every step of the process and will see how all the latest dairy technology processing, goes into making sure they have the freshest milk for their cereal every morning.
